Mr. Richey and students taking his Technology Classes have begun a project to help students and teachers better understand their library. While the Fiction section is organized alphabetically, according to authors' names, the Non-Fiction section is organized using the Dewey Decimal System. The Dewey Decimal System is a very old system of organizing books that is used all over the world. Being able to understand how it works in our school library will make it easier for you to find books in other libraries too!
When you look at the spine label of a non-fiction book, you will see numbers and letters. Every book in the library has a special spot and these numbers and letters tell you where the book belongs.
The Technology classes will be creating poster collages that you will soon see hanging up over each section of the Non-Fiction area. By looking at the images on a poster, you'll get an idea of what kinds of books you'll find underneath it!
The posters will also be posted on this site. Keep checking back!
